I did it, I finished a pattern! I’m hoping this works. I’m going to insert the PeainaPod. This is the pattern for my Pea Pod Baby Snuggle Sack.

I put this up in rather a large hurry, so I wanted to come back to comment a little on the process of writing up the pattern. Obviously, one of these days I’ll need to learn how to insert a chart into a pattern, but in the meantime I honestly felt that writing this up line by line was the best way to go because mostly it’s just knits and purls and I felt like the chart was just unnecessary. I hope that everyone finds it completely comprehensible. I hope there is an everyone to hope about. When I first designed the piece I drew a picture in my little notepad and then I translated that to some graph paper. From there I mapped out the stitches and then I translated that to a line by line instructional.
Currently, I’m working on a slouchy beret. The hat should be done tonight or maybe tomorrow and that pattern should be done and up definitely by Sunday. After that I wouldn’t expect patterns flying out left and right…at least for the time being.

Also, are you sure you only “clicked and got a picture”? I clicked on the link above and it took me to the pattern, which STARTS with a picture. If you scroll down, you will see the pattern, which you may save as a pdf by “printing” as a cute.pdf file.

It is indeed a picture followed by a pattern. It’s a google document which can be saved as a pdf or printed.

As a new knitter, I’m unsure about how to proceed at the body of the pea pod part: When R1 starts do I repeat the K20, P2, Kto end on both needles or just keep knitting 42 on that second needle? Making this for a cousin’s first baby and don’t want to mess it up too noticeably! Thanks 🙂
You should just knit the second set of 42 sts. The round 1 direction is “k20, p2, k to end”, in other words Knit 20, Purl 2, Knit remaining stitches. This way you’ll have the pea pod pattern on one side and simple stockinette on the other. Good luck!

As a brand new knitter (first in-the-round pair of socks completed!) I’m down to the body of the pea pod and don’t know if I repeat the k20, p2, and k to the end on each needle for each Round or if k to the end happens on all of the stitches on the next needle. First homemade baby gift for a cousin and don’t want to mess it up too badly 😉
I just finished this adorable Snuggle and found a perfect little Pea Pod cap to go with it.
I found it on (knittingpatterncentral.com.) It has a little pod with peas on it.

I tried the magic loop before and could not do it. I did not thihk I could do it, but I did.
So, now I have a good start on this pattern and i know it will now go well and probably be

Is this knit from the bottom up? If not , isn’t there a body all the way around with a flap in the back. I am an experienced knitter and understand binding off some stitches but do not understand this. I recently have knit 4 baby cozies using other patterns but I really like this pattern.
Yes, this is knit from the bottom up. It uses Judy’s Magic Cast-on. The body is all the way around and then once you get toward the top you bind off stitches at the front and continue back and forth along the back to create the flap that folds down over the back a bit.

is there anyway to make this without using the magic loop cast on? I have looked at the video and still can’t figure out how to do it.
I suppose you could just cast on and knit in the round and then sew the bottom shut.
Thank you for making this available for free. I am going to start on it tonight for my daughter’s baby son, due next month (eeks!). I also appreciate the helpful notes regarding transition from knitting in the round to flat at ~ row 60. I will keep that in mind. Sorry, I keep losing my “w’s”.
Hi there! I’m making one of these for a little friend of mine. Love the pattern. 1st time on circular needles. But I’m stuck! After Row 60, when starting the back flap, I’m all confused! For R1 of Backflap, do I knit all the way to the end of the round or just to the one needle, because I don’t really get the part in Row 2 when you say Turn! I haven’t attempted it yet, but I don’t want to mess it up. Would love your help!

When I say turn what’s happening is that you can still work on circular needles, but instead of working in the round you’re now working flat. So you knit to the ‘turn’ and then you do just that, you turn the piece around and start working back the way you came. From that point on the piece is worked flat, back and forth.
Does that help?
I guess I’m still confused! Not sure when to switch from two needles to one because of the stitches that were bound off. Before the turn I have 9K, 19BO, K to end of that needle. On next needle I have All K. If I turn, then I’d be knitting to back to where the bind off’s are, but then what of those other 9 stitches? Maybe I’ve done the whole Circular knitting/ Magic Loop method thing wrong! I already completed one of these and figured it out, but had to make a change to make it work and didn’t write it down! From Stuck at the end of Row 1 of Backflap!
If you’re knitting magic loop everything should still be on a circular needle. Even though you’re switching to knitting flat you don’t have to switch to two needles. When you are knitting to the end you’re going to knit the whole way back to where you started binding off stitches, so that every stitch that remains becomes one single row.

My friend that I originally made it for has some pictures of her son in it, but as she is still a very new mommy she hasn’t yet had the time to send them to me. I will definitely post them as soon as I get them though.
